iON (or anyone else with comments), What is the dynamic of recognizing oneself through a name? Specifically, how would a baby (before learning to understand language) attach to a reoccurring word in a way that that word comes to represent himself in an ocean of so many other words? Chad |

Are there humans who go about their lives without even recognizing themselves in a name-word? Thanks, Chad |

Hmmm...now that's an interesting dynamic to consider, and one which is not a lifestyle choice offered anywhere else. Chad |

Quote: What is the dynamic of recognizing oneself through a name? I once read regarding Piaget's theory of cognitive development that the nervous system is wired for language prior to birth. If you "shoot" (my word) phonemes at the fetus there will be a predictable distinct reflex response for each phoneme. |

If you "shoot" (my word) phonemes at the fetus there will be a predictable distinct reflex response for each phoneme. How would this relate to recognizing oneself in a name? Are you suggesting that the baby comes pre-wired to recognize the name it receives? Then, how would the parents know to name the child that particular name? Chad |
