Hey everyone in iONdom...just wanted to share something I have found helpful in managing my BOB and ION mp3 files through iTunes...

Did you know you can convert your mp3 files into podcasts and have several new fun features when playing back your MP3 downloads that are not available as a music file? When you convert your MP3 files to a podcast, these features apply:

1). The podcast has a rewind feature that allows you to rewind at 30-second increments (much better than trying to use your pinky finger to slide the rewind bar on your p-pad)
2). You can 1/2 time, or 2x's the speed of the recording (fun, try it!)
3). The recording will remember its playback position. This is great if you are listening to a long session because it will resume its playback where you left off. It will also tell you which files you've heard, haven't heard or partially heard.

In order to convert your MP3's to podcasts in iTunes, select the mp3 file you want to convert (or files - you can do multiples), right click to bring up the admin menu and scroll down and select GET INFO. When the info menu opens, select OPTIONS from the tabs at the top of the menu box. When the OPTIONS menu opens, the 3rd feature titled MEDIA KIND has a drop-down menu from which you can select PODCAST. Once you select PODCAST, you can then click the box called "remember playback position" on the menu. Close and save your selections and this file will be grouped into a podcast file with the same sorting or playlist features you had originally set up for your music files.

Please note that by changing it to a podcast file it will create a new file - but it will not remove the old one from your music files - you can choose to delete it if you want - that's what I do to free up space on my p-pad{s} and avoid duplicates. This is also nice because if you want to put your iPOD on a 'all play shuffle' that includes your entire music library, you will get no longer get iON files in the mix.

Also, you can follow the same process to access the GET INFO menu, select the INFO menu on each of your files and utilize the "groupings" field within the INFO menu to manage your ION files - typically those fields are blank and are a great way to categorize the files for your own purposes - you can do that with podcast or music files. For instance, groupings can sort your podcasts into cash flow, readings, rants, revelations, etc...

IN-JOY!
