I never really got what McLuhan means by movies being hot and TV being cold mediums.

I do like his analogy about old TV being like scuba diving and movies being like driving. What would McLuhan make of new digital HD TV? This medium is different from movies and the analog TV environment. I think many movies now are shot in digital edited and convered to film. I think Ion has said that this medium is watching you.
