Looking up the interview, I came across this 36-min. recording of Zappa employee Gerry Fialka, Carolyn Dean, and Yours Truly driving in Gerry's car (we had been staying with Gerry in Venice that month) to Frank's home in Laurel Canyon for the interview on Friday, Oct.21/88.

It is hilarious considering how the 7-hour dialogue (3.5 hours were off the record) became the foundation for most useful biographies of FZ:

I had known Frank since 1958 and this proved to be the last time I talked to him. He passed on 5 years later.

The only audio available to the public is faint because we didn't want the recording out there. The whole thing was never played on the radio more than once.

We gave a better copy to Frank since he was so impressed with the interview, he wanted to make an album out of it. This didn't happen because he got interested in bringing the Berlin Wall down and helping Russians start businesses. Then he got cancer.
