Not to overstate the obvious, but iON is making a distinction between the
government and the people.
The sky may fall, but it doesn't have to fall on you.
Bob and James have already collapsed the world economy, and we're doing fine.
We can probably expect the same when a government(s) falls; although, we don't
really know what that means.
It seems that a government can't necessarily fall in the sense that it just evaporates,
or closes its doors.
In the past, regimes / governments that fall, for example, in the case of defeat in
war, simply shift hands to the victor.
It seems kind of like having your mortgage transferred. You don't notice anything
different, save that you're now paying someone else.
At the ground level, us common folk will go about our business.
There are / organizations / folks that could pony up the cash to keep our economies
rolling, but who knows if that would ever happen.
There are folks operating behind the scenes, with more authority that our governments,
that no longer have need for currency. This is my sense based on a fair amount of
research.
These are the secret organizations / boards that place figureheads in positions of
authority, but aren't accountable for the missteps of those figures / public authorities.
Of course, if the (so-called) super powers (read: authority / governments, and those who
placed those folks there) see a real threat to their positions - a real and immediate threat
across the board, then there is every reason to believe they could effect something like
Bob's global debt forgiveness.
At the moment, considering iON is right (and he usually is), it's funny to see our
governments as a sort of Radio Shack -
http://onion.com/c0WVbq I wonder what Bob's take would be on the notion that, if the television / Internet ever
turned off, so would government...What is the foundation for government in the everyday
lives of people? That seems to be our only connection with government; and it's tenuous,
at best.
I've heard Bob call the president an "image"; meaning, literally, that. You can't talk to / interact
with him. He just appears, makes statements and vanishes.
So, if that same government collapses, literally closes its doors, then, in practical terms, they've
just lost air time. No one would notice, otherwise, if they closed their doors. Only the people employed
within those institutions.
Of course, there are plenty of people who have placed their power in the government, and
the television or Internet blackout would present those folks with a dire situation...Or perhaps not...
