Market Update Set Alert

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3:00 pm : The stock market has spent the entire afternoon moving sideways, but participation has been relatively strong in that an hour of trade remains and more than 900 million shares have already exchanged hands on the NYSE. Trading volume on the Big Board during the prior session didn't even break 1 billion shares. DJ30 -254.69 NASDAQ -77.16 SP500 -31.35 NASDAQ Adv/Vol/Dec 247/1.88 bln/2404 NYSE Adv/Vol/Dec 275/930 mln/2791

2:30 pm : The stock market remains confined to a narrow trading range. Though it is up a bit from its session low, the S&P 500 is still on pace for its lowest close in seven months.

A handful of S&P 500 components now trade in positive territory. The short list of gainers includes Zimmer Holdings (ZMH 54.93, +0.36), Autozone (AZO 196.60, +0.39), Newmont Mining (NEM 61.56, +0.10). DJ30 -234.66 NASDAQ -69.54 SP500 -28.73 NASDAQ Adv/Vol/Dec 273/1.70 bln/2373 NYSE Adv/Vol/Dec 275/835 mln/2769

2:00 pm : Stocks in the S&P 500 recently slipped so that the benchmark index was at 1041, a point below earlier lows. It has since recovered a couple of points, though.

With this session's loss, the stock market is now down in excess of 6% since the start of the year. That's far worse than the 0.9% year-to-date loss and 0.8% year-to-date loss for the Russell 2000 Small Cap Index and S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index, respectively.

However, losses among equities this year have spurred volatility. In turn, the Volatility Index is up 18% today and up almost 60% year-to-date. DJ30 -272.03 NASDAQ -72.53 SP500 -29.32 NASDAQ Adv/Vol/Dec 256/1.57 bln/2367 NYSE Adv/Vol/Dec 241/766 mln/2800

Thank you iON

I'm looking at the market now and researching the spot market. Sideway is correct, I also notice that the Dow placed a stop to make the Dow stop falling the indicator was is the color; the ones who is controlling the market stopped the downfall, which was big. In a nutshell they were not going to allow the market to fall anymore today... I also read the article and I am researching info; platinum 1540 last time I looked. Everything is going as planned...
