I once read regarding Piaget's theory of cognitive development that the nervous system is wired for language prior to birth. If you "shoot" (my word) phonemes at the fetus there will be a predictable distinct reflex response for each phoneme.

How would this relate to recognizing oneself in a name? Are you suggesting that the baby comes pre-wired to recognize the name it receives? Then, how would the parents know to name the child that particular name?

This is interesting and I have a story to go along with it. When I was getting my ultrasound the tech asked me what we were going to name to baby. My response was "Victoria Lorraine." The very next still photo was a picture of the baby with a "thumbs up" response. What an approval!

Thanks for sharing your story, higherlight. It would be interesting if iON would explain the dynamic of what happened during that "naming" transaction, with regard to whether the new "human creator" was indeed indicating her approval.
