where's the money ?- hilarious at the global attempt to maintain debt ledgers, penalty payments, austerity measures, tightening of the belt (err budget) all on micro-chip; then continue to deny the very existence of free energy, only to promulgate inane concepts like turbine windmills, archaic electric grids with smart meters, combustion engines that spew filth; while cars run on water, electromagnetic motors sit in wait, and cold fusion festers in the underbelly of Gods- this is the moment of deliverance- stand up get on your feet- then ask where's the money?

BOB: Arthur Kroker wrote in 1986:

[[ Panic Money. Advanced capitalist economies now face the severest liquidity crisis ever as the economy itself begins to liquidate. Capital begins to disappear. Nowhere is this crisis more apparent than in the shattering of its chief icon - money. The money illusion has become real as the economy reverses itself. No longer does one find relevance in the wrangle over monetary policy, supply side economics, Laffer curves, revealed preferences or unrevealed preferences, but rather in the self-liquidation of value itself. Money is caught in the grand cancellation of the sign of political economy. It finds itself homeless and constantly put to flight. It is abandoning the "worthless" world of contemporary capitalism.

Money was saved from ruination by Marx who realized the shift from pre-modern production turned, finally, on breathing life (once again) into money as universal exchange-value. Hence money was given an extended life in its role as the externalization of the nineteenth-century self. Money could do things the body couldn't as it travelled about the social in high style hidden from view by the fetishism of commodities. But the bodies in the twentieth-century have been invaded, and blown apart. The fetishes have grown up. Consumption has regained the primitive ritual of symbolic exchange in its abolition of the modern.

Facing the onslaught of the cancellation of the referent, money finds itself circulating faster, and more violently, to maintain itself as the universal clinamen. But in the age of superconductors the chilling effect is immense as everything approaches the end of Einstein's world at the speed of light. In this world the parasitism of money begins to slow the process. This pushes money into even longer hours with the advent of twenty-four hour exchange. Yet, the "red-shift" in the velocity of circulation only hastens the disappearance of money from the planet prefigured in the vast sums for star wars.

Already money has given place to its opposite, credit, in the creation ex nihilo which marks all contemporary advances from insider trading to take-over bids. Just how far the game is up becomes evident in the repudiation of the debts of the large corporations, or of the working class. Everything is owned, possessed by the other so that the economy can only run "on empty". Money becomes the spent fuel of an over-heated reactor. Nobody knows what to do with it, yet all know it must be expended.

Money as value only appears at the vanishing-point of its afterimage. It is no longer one's filthy lucre, only that of the sanitized electronic display of the computer monitor. For money always moves on in its role as the chief vagrant of the collapsing capitalist economy. ]]

Wow Arthur Kroker wrote this insightful message in 1986 - does that mean he was too early ? are we almost there yet ? or does it just mean it doesn't feel quite the same when one cashes a ticket with the cashier at the track for a fist full of filthy fifties up until around 1990's as opposed to a tiny little voucher from the computer terminal ?

or does that mean there is only real value in a tangible asset like a house paid for, with a pool, in a lovely community ? my father wants to sell his humble abode for the purpose of liquidating into cash- the question is ? where's the money ? there is no money ? its now only an afterimage- what would he do with credits on a micro-chip susceptable to flash frequencies of re-numeration and/or repudiation- perplexing is it not ?

The interplay between beings requiring a sacrifice, or a notion
of equal exchange will remain as long as it is required. It's a
deep and ancient subject, but as regards what is occurring
now with it, a couple of questions come to mind,

1) For those who will still require this, what form beyond
the electronic form (or within the electronic form) will this
exchange take next?

2) Or will this notion of sacrifice soon vanish for everyone?

To me, if there is anyone on the planet that requires this,
then it can be said the notion of exchange / sacrifice will
continue. Even though it may not exist for the majority after
a certain point.

I got on board with the notion, within the last 3 - 4 years, that
currency / money would become obsolete. I've been expecting
this to occur any time.

The question is, however, what spans is left for the majority?

Will currency / credit / debt die a long, drawn out death, gasping
and sputtering along, or will it be replaced / killed in the blink of
an eye?

I would assume the former, but I'm curious what others have
thought about the subject.

If it dies slowly, it would be interesting to consider what forms
folks would invent to prop up this obsolesced condition.

Like McLuhan said, the concept of a job / occupation was gone
in McLuhan's period, but people kept making new inventions /
technologies in an attempt to prop up this dead / dying pasttime.

It is interesting that currency / the method of exchange was
converted to its current electronic form, because, for example,
a good EMP blast (providing we're not protected from it) could
clear our balance sheets in one fell swoop...

Maybe that was planned...

yes - correct, one fail swoop of a blip on a screen, a flash of an emp, and poof its gone- i.e. the rogue trader from UBS bank who was just arrested for blipping 2 billion +/- in micro chip digits from the comfort of his cubicle; however, it would it appear the afterimage of money will leave in imprint (still be in use) for the immediate time being - eventhough it really looks funky nowadays with the different shades of pink, stripes, imprints, holograms, in a vain attempt to prop up the integrity of the soon to be extinct paper product called MONEY - John Belushi said it best - Where's the Money ?
